Which Hermes Scarf Is Sofia Richie Wearing to NOBU?
This selfie has been a mystery since November 2023
But as always, we’ve solved another one
A friend had sent me this Sofia Richie Grainge selfie on November 28th 2023, the same day she posted it to Instagram. She asked me if I knew which scarf it was, but this was a tough one, as the the only detail I could see was the border. I did some searching and truly did not recognize this orange and blue combination and had started to think, “maybe it isn’t Hermes”?
Fast forward to today, April 30th 2024, I received a DM with someone asking me the same question, “Which scarf is Sofia Richie Grainge wearing in this selfie?”
So, I figured let’s reopen the investigation.
Above is the selfie I had for reference
Here are the most important thing I noticed first:
The blue and orange meeting at the corners
The diagonal line at the tip of the corner that is a defining feature
2. The beige center that appears fairly empty
We can’t consider any options with detail on the edges or on the center
3. The dots on the rolled edges
This is a hint at the time period. Hermes just introduced this in the last few years, so we have a fairly small window of time
4. The size
It looks smaller than a 90cm, but not as small as a 45cm. I’ve mentally narrowed it down to a triangle scarf or a 70cm
5. The silk texture
The silk appears to be thin without as much body as a size 90cm. This also made me think it’s probably a 70cm since they are usually made out of a different style silk than the 45cm and 90cm. Hermes calls it a “Vintage Silk”, even though it’s current season.
Here are a couple I considered that weren’t quite right
Le Premier Chant
I knew “Le Premier Chant” by Sophia Andreotti and Édouard Baribeaud (Spring / Summer 2022) had the diagonal line at the corner that I was looking for, but it had too much detail on the border and no dots on the hand rolled edges.
Regard de Soie
Then I remembered “Regard de Soie” by Clément Balcon from the same collection (Spring / Summer 2022). The corners were more accurate on this one, but the center wasn’t empty enough and again, no dots on the hand rolled edge.

Sofia Richie Grainge at NOBU
I decided to go back to the drawing board (aka Google) and found these paparazzi shots of her the same night leaving NOBU. And although we don’t see any more of the scarf, it confirmed how thin the silk is and that it is most certainly a size 70cm.
It was at this point that I was wracking my brain trying to think of recent size 70cm and I finally got it.
Sofia Richie Grainge is wearing an Hermes Scarf with Dachshunds called “Les Bassets” by Xavier de Poret (Fall / Winter 2020)
Renowned animal painter and worldly portraitist, Xavier de Poret (1897-1975) is famous for his hunting scenes and studies of horses and birds. At the heart of a scarf released for the first time in 1956, calm and pensive dachshund hounds are designed in different postures. A hunting dog responsible for retrieving game, the dachshund is known for its intelligence and loyalty. The artist has affectionately sketched his furry friend, whose depth of vision is enhanced by a plain background. - hermes.com
Here are the details
1. Orange and Blue Meeting at the Corner on “Les Bassets”
2. The Fairly Empty Beige Center on “Les Bassets”
3. The Dotted Hand Rolled Edges on “Les Bassets”
4. The Size is smaller than a 90cm and bigger than a 45. Here I am wearing a 70cm, like hers (mine is double knotted vs hers is single knotted)
5. Silk Texture on “Les Bassets” is very malleable. Compare the texture to the size 90cm pictured on the right.
6. Here is the final reveal of “Les Bassets” that Sofia Richie Grainge is wearing. It’s in “Vintage Silk” in the color way Beige / Sepia / Orange
And by the way, the Dachshunds on the scarf look exactly like her adorable dog seen below
