Which Hermes Scarves Did Kendall Jenner & Gigi Hadid Wear at Vogue World 2024?

And their horses
were the stars of the show

Well, besides the scarves, that is.

So which Hermes scarves were on Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid’s horses at Vogue World? Vogue World is an event that takes place in the Place Vendôme and celebrates the connection between athletics and fashion. This event has been taking place for over a hundred years and each decade is associated with a sport. This decade is breakdancing. Take a look at all the decades here. Kendall and Gigi were there to represent the 1950’s decade which was given the equestrian theme. But enough talking, let’s get to the scarves.

Above are the main clips I used for reference

Since we are looking at 8 different scarves here, let’s talk about the details I always look for first, if I don’t recognize the scarf right off the bat.

  1. The Corners
The corners are the easiest place to start. Each scarf has a defining feature on the corner and there are lots of elements to a corner. Is there a border? Is there a pattern? Is it solid? Is there a recognizable element like a leaf or an equestrian bit?
    2. The Border
If there is a border, here are some questions I ask myself: How wide is it? Is there a double border? Which colors can be seen? Is it geometrical or whimsical?

    3. Pattern Type
If I can see any of the pattern, I then ask: Is it historical? Is it symmetrical? Is it bold? Does it look vintage?
    4. The Color Variation
Depending on how many colors I can see sometimes it’s possible to search by color. Patterns can look very different in different colorways. So this is a helpful lead too.

    5. Time Period

The time period can potentially narrow down the scarf we are looking for. Since Kendall and Gigi were meant to represent the 1950’s, this is the time period I was considering.

The first scarf Kendall Jenner’s Horse is wearing is Hermes “Springs” by Philippe LeDoux (1974)

Philippe Ledoux was hired by Hermes, specifically Robert Dumas, in 1947 and created 90 scarf designs during his time there. In 1975 he died in a motorcycle accident and his nephew, Vladimir Rybaltchenko finished his last 2 scarves. If you are familiar with Hermes artists, you may recognize the last name, Rybaltchenko. He was also the father of Dimitri Rybaltchenko, who is a current Hermes artist too.

The second scarf Kendall Jenner’s Horse is wearing is Hermes “Le Timbalier” by Marie-Françoise Héron (1961)

Marie-Françoise Héron designed her first scarf for Hermes in 1952 and completed 23 other scarves with Hermes that I am familiar with.

The third scarf Kendall Jenner’s Horse is wearing is Hermes “Chiens et Valets” scarf by Charles-Jean Hallo (1963)

Charles-Jean Hallo designed approximately 15 other scarves for Hermes and may be most well-known for his poster designs created in the 1920’s-1930’s. This scarf was also featured in “A Simple Favor” featuring Anna Kendrick and I identified it here.

The fourth scarf Kendall Jenner’s Horse is wearing is Hermes “Au Bois Dormant” (1983)

I wasn’t able to make a match from the images found of Kendall Jenner on horseback, but I was able to find a photo of her afterwards where she tied this scarf around her waist. I had never seen this scarf before, so this one was a bit more difficult to track down, however I did find the match! This one is called “Au Bois Dormant”, but unfortunately, I am unsure of the artist behind this one.

The first scarf Gigi Hadid’s Horse is wearing is Hermes “Carrick à Pompe” by Philippe LeDoux (1973)

The second scarf Gigi Hadid’s Horse is wearing is Hermes “Le Timbalier” by Marie-Françoise Héron (1961)

Marie-Françoise Héron designed her first scarf for Hermes in 1952 and completed 23 other scarves with Hermes that I am familiar with.

The third scarf Gigi Hadid’s Horse is wearing is Hermes “Grand Apparat” by Jacques Eudel (1962)

Marie-Françoise Héron designed her first scarf for Hermes in 1960 and completed 8 other scarves with Hermes that I am familiar with.

The fourth scarf Gigi Hadid’s Horse is wearing is Hermes “Brides de Gala” by Hugo Grygkar (1957)

Hugo Grygkar (1907-1959) was the first scarf designer for Hermes and designed over 100 scarves during his time there. Later in his career with Hermes, Grygkar became the head designer, where he worked on the window design at the Flagship store located at 24 Faubourg Saint-Honore in Paris.
