Hermes "Les Anamorphoses" 70
Why I Love This Pattern: This scarf has an incredibly unique design, unlike any other Hermès scarf. So, what exactly does the title mean and what is "Anamorphoses"? Anamorphic art is a technique where an image appears distorted when viewed from a normal perspective but becomes clear when seen from a specific angle or reflected in a mirror. The origin of these designs goes back to the Renaissance and the artist Piero Della Francesca. On this scarf, you’ll notice "Hermès" spelled backward, as it’s designed to be viewed in a cylindrical mirror. The dots scattered across the scarf indicate where the cylindrical mirror should be placed to reveal the full artwork. But you might be wondering—where can you find this special mirror? Originally, this scarf was sold with a mirror, but due to production issues, many were released without the accompanying mirror, making the full experience of this design a rare find.
Why I Love This Size: The 70cm format is actually my favorite out of all the sizes. I find it small enough where I’m not overwhelmed by fabric, but big enough when I can still do a few fancier knots. The 70cm also uses a lighter weight silk than any of the other sizes, which gives it a casual effortless look. I always recommend this size for petites as well, it’s almost a petite version of a 90cm. But even if you’re taller it works perfectly too. Here are some ways I love to style a 70cm scarf— here, here and here.
