How to Turn One Hermes Scarf into Five
How to Turn One Hermes Scarf Turn into Five
Let’s Find Out How
Sometimes the power of an Hermes scarf is in the way it’s tied (as shown in the video above). Don’t get me wrong, I love the scarf motifs used in this scarf, but it really comes to life when one special technique is used to tie it. The format of “Carré en Carrés” is really like no other.
I am not the first person to call this “the Magic Scarf”. I first saw this Tutorial on Mai Tai’s Picture Book blog and was so impressed with the technique and how to truly maximize this scarf that I wanted to recreate it.
Overview of Hermes Carré en Carrés & Bali Barret
The scarf “Carré en Carrés” is by Bali Barret, who was the artistic director of Women's Product Universe at Hermes and was with Hermes for 17 years. She designed this scarf in 2005 and released it in another variation with more collections of scarves on 1 scarf. Also re-released in 2010 in a jersey silk format.
“Barret first came to the attention of Hermès back in 2003 when she still had her own label, after Pierre-Alexis Dumas, the family member who is the brand’s current artistic director, suggested that she create a mini collection entitled “Soie Belle.” Immediately establishing a more iconoclastic vision for the storied house, with silk scarves perforated by lasers and unexpected combinations of leather and silk.” - Fashion Network
Three years later, in 2006, she was named director of the house’s silk division.
