From The Hermès Spring-Summer 1989 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Here again, talk of a French "specialty" would be only a slight exaggeration. This time, the specialty is historical and ideological, yet its renown is doubles as great as that of France's gastronomy. To commemorate the two hundredth anniversary of the French Revolution, the designer of this scarf used common late 18th-century themes, in particular the combination of oak and olive, symbols of the North and South of France.

Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
