From The Hermes Spring-Summer 1989 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Countries invariably rank their own national cuisine number one, but tend to put French cuisine in second position, hence the latter's renown. The gourmet table lavishly laid out here was conceived by Robert Dumas in 1943, a bold gesture designed to nurture visions of glory and better days ahead. Imagination, the one staple that cannot be rationed.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
