Why I Love This Pattern: This design is inspired by the rich symbolism of Mayan and Aztec civilizations, cultures that envisioned the universe suspended between 13 heavens and 9 underworld gods, governed by the four children of a primordial creator couple. Their artistry left a lasting impression far beyond their borders: in 1520, during a visit to Brussels, the young Albrecht Dürer marveled at Aztec treasures presented to the king, writing that he had never seen anything that 'rejoiced his heart' more. This scarf echoes that same spirit.
