From The Hermès Fall-Winter 2001/02 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Birds enliven the skies, tracing their genius in their loopings. Sometimes their wings let fall a feather, which, like a slip of a thought, alights. By being sharpened and dipped into an inkwell, it then allows the poet to take off in his turn. In Brazil feathers reign, whether in the costumes, or on jewellery, mixed in hair-styles or as decorations for musical instruments. It is a sign of the nation's lofty tendencies: an aspiration of a whole people to attain light.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
