From The Hermes Fall-Winter 1989/90 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: One of the crowning achievements of literature is the heartrending scene in Homer's Iliad, when Hector, about to die in battle, embraces his wife Andromache for the last time, while Astyanax, their son, plays with his father's helmet. With all due respect to the Homeric tradition, let us be moved by more modern classics: a collection of four helmets worn by 19th-century French heroes.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
