From The Hermès Fall-Winter 1982/83 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: The artist dedicated this interlacing to the Cavalcadour, the king's squire who watched over his stables and escorted him on every outing.

From The Hermès Fall-Winter 2011/12 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Cavalcadour, troubladore, rhyming words but worlds apart. While one employs his talents to delight ladies of the Court with his poems, the other reigns over the stables of kings and princes. Cavalcadour, on silk, is a cavalcade of bridles that swirl and intertwine like ribbons. Adorned with exquisitely crafted buckles of fleurs de lvs and the crown of France, these bridles are inspired by the tack of the horses of the Comte de Chambord, grandson of Charles X and son of the Duc de Berry, last of the ancient line of the Bourbons. Borrowing these bridles for the collection of Emile Hermes, the designer creates bits and spurs in a composition whispered in his ear by the cavalcadour equerry.
