From The Hermès Website: In 1937, Robert Dumas watched boats as he strolled along the Normandy coast. The anchor chains that held them in place caught his eye and inspired the shape of the iconic Chaine d'ancre motif. This exemplifies the "intelligence of the eye" and the harmonious balance between practicality and beauty that is quintessential to the Hermès philosophy. It was in 1938 when the Maison ventured into uncharted waters and crafted the first silver Chaine d'ancre bracelet. Since then, this motif has been an endless source of inspiration, undergoing a plethora of interpretations, utilizing various materials and shapes, all while preserving its essence.

- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
