From The Hermès Spring-Summer 1994 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: The guardian angel of the house of Hermes - the horse. of course - was no longer content with merely crowing occasionally (a symptom of national pride) and decided to follow the example of the crocodile and lay eggs. Two reactions to this unexpected gift are possible. The erudite one would be to determine exactly which detail from an Hermès scarf was painted on each of these eggs. Or one could be gluttonous, which would lead straight to an omelet.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
