From The Hermès Fall-Winter 1991/21 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: The daïmyo were powerful barons of feudal Japan, whose coats of arms (contained within a circle - the symbol of perfection) often depicted plants and animals. The crane was believed to bring good luck and long life. Here, we find it encircled by ginkgo leaves, and framed in a pattern of crossed Samurai swords. These instruments of combat and hara-kiri here symbolize the legacy of courage and honour left by these princes of the Rising Sun.
Why I Love This Size
The 90cm silk scarf is the classic size. It’s technically the most versatile in terms of tying many different knots, styling it as a top, a bag, a headscarf and the list goes on.
