From The Hermès Fall-Winter 2021/22 Seasonal Website Description: Headdresses adorned with colorful feathers are delicately placed below shells characteristic of the Pacific Ocean - in particular cowries, which are recognizable due to their oval shape and jagged center. Until the beginning of the 20th century, these were the main currency of exchange in the archipelagos and they often adorned ceremonial costumes. Here, the designer Laurence Bourthoumieux pays tribute to the culture of Papua New Guinea. More than 700 different languages coexist in this part of the world, which is also renowned for the diversity of its landscapes, tropical forests, mountains and savannah.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
