From The Hermès Website: In 1937, Robert Dumas travelled along the coast of Normandy. Keenly observant, he was struck by the purity and elegance of the links in the chain that attaches a boat to its anchor. He immediately drew a sketch of it in his travel notebook and the Chaîne d'ancre bracelet was born. This iconic Hermes design is what inspired Mathieu Cosse to create Escale à la plage, which depicts an anchor chain lying on the sand, catching the light at different times of the day.
