From The Hermès Website: An ex-libris is a distinctive marking chosen by a booklover to personalize the works in his library. In 1923, Emile‑Maurice Hermès, the grandson of the founder of the house, chose to this effect a design by Alfred de Dreux (1810-1860) preserved in his collection: duc attele, groom a l'attente, which he placed above his initials EMH. From one side to the other, a caduceus, attribute of the Greek god Hermès, symbolizes peace and commercial transactions. This design became the emblem of the Maison. Around this medallion four elegant horse-drawn carriages are inspired by the original designs of carriage-makers conserved in the Émile Hermès collection. Creator of great classics of the Maison such as the famous Brides de Gala, Hugo Grygkar composed this scarf in 1946.

- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
