Why I Love This Pattern: An Hermès scarf that has been to space! When astronaut Jean-Loup Chrétien flew to the Mir space station in 1988, he brought with him the Les Feux de l'Espace scarf, which had been released the previous year (1987) to mark the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Hermès house (1837). After his return to Earth, and in tribute to the first French and European man to perform a spacewalk, Hermès reissued the design, this time featuring the silhouette of Chrétien himself at the center of the original composition.
