From The Hermès Fall-Winter 2013/14 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: In Lyon, the silk capital of France since the sixteenth century, a museum of textiles celebrates the city's proud, three-hundred-year heritage. The collections at the Musée des Tissus range across the centuries, from East to West, with Coptic tapestries, carpets from Asia Minor, Byzantine fabrics, and work from the great textile houses of Lyon and Sicily. Inspired by this remarkable ensemble - one of the finest of Its kind in the world - Christine Henry has designed a carré drawing on the museum's infinite array of textile motifs, to adorn the wings of a cloud of butterflies. This carré marks the launch of a new collaboration between the museum and the house of Hermès - a cultural alliance of kindred spirits.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
