From The Hermès Spring-Summer 1984 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Eighteen unexpected ways to play ball. The dreams of poet-aeronauts around the world, some of these 18th- and 19th-century projects were realized.

From The Hermès Spring-Summer 1994 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Madness on the part of the aeronauts who risked their lives, and mad expenditures on the part of the subscribers and spectators who financed such exploits. On November 21st, 1783, Etienne de Montgolfier's aerostat flew over Paris for 25 minutes. Alas, the balloons on this scarf did not all experience such celestial glory. Many remained at the project stage and are now among the archives preserved in the terrestrial silence of the Invalides Museum.

From The Hermès Spring-Summer 2009 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Adventurous madness of the first aeronauts putting their life at danger, and extravagant madness of the sponsors and spectators financing their feats! On 21st November 1783, the aerostat of Étienne de Montgolfier, French industrialist and inventor, flew over Paris for a mere twenty-five minutes. All projects portrayed on the carré Les Folies du ciel (revealing eighteen unexpected ways to play balloon!), alas, never heralded celestial glory. Designed in the 18th and 19th Centuries, some never saw the day, remaining as records on paper in the silent depths of Invalides Museum. Precious evidence of man's dream to go "up, up and away"!
