From The Hermès Spring-Summer 1988 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: A literary scarf, so to speak. Hemingway would have thrown on a man-sized version as the cool evening fell over his "green hills of Africa". In the center of a spirited round of impalas, the lion and his mate reign in all their majestic languor. We recognize the panther in one corner. In another, the leopard, no less a literary presence than that of Hemingway himself. Adding fame to the wld beast's reputation for speed, a masterpiece of the post-war Italian novel was entitled The Leopard.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
