From The Hermès Spring-Summer 1994 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: To the expert eye of a botanist, the prairie is a forest of myriad stems festooned with reniform or ancyloid, rhomboid or orbicular leaves, and endowed with inflorescences in the form of corollas, umbels, funnels or ears. For the snail, who has no dictionary, the prairie is nothing more or less than a propitious environment. And for the silk that is reaping its harvest here, the prairie is shimmering colors that come to life at the wind's caress.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
