From The Hermès Fall-Winter 2005/06 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: The elephant is the emperor of the animal kingdom; he is very wise, he lives an age, and he also has a prodigious memory. However, he sometimes goes about as if he had lost his way. In reality the elephant is thoughtful, and nothing exercises his brain cells more than a stroll in a circular fashion. One step at a time, the elephant savours being able to form a circle at the centre of this new silk and cashmere voile foulard that is crease resistant, as compact as can be (70 cm square) and - just like his mood - light and diaphanous.
Why I Love This Size
The 70cm format is actually my favorite out of all the sizes. I find it small enough where I’m not overwhelmed by fabric, but big enough when I can still do a few fancier knots. The 70cm also uses a lighter weight silk than any of the other sizes, which gives it a casual effortless look. I always recommend this size for petites as well, it’s almost a petite version of a 90cm. But even if you’re taller it works perfectly too.
