From The Hermès Spring-Summer 2011 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Here we are at Ascot, in the South of England, in 1831. The jockeys have swapped their heavy riding coats for fine shirts sporting the colours of their owners. The latter being plentiful, the patterns of the blouses and the combinations of colours have multiplied. Their caps may have been varied, but in the domain of head-gear, female spectators nowadays at these mythical races put them in the shade! Astride their thoroughbreds, the twelve riders pay homage to one of the most prestigious race tracks in the world. Created in 1711, every year it's the scene of "Royal Ascot", attended by the Queen, traditionally, in her landau.
