Why I Love This Pattern: This design by Hubert de Watrigant is inspired by the famed Carnival of Venice, a centuries-old celebration known for its elaborate masks, theatrical costumes, and vibrant parades through the city’s canals and piazzas. The scarf shows that festive spirit through a series of detailed scenes that give us little glimpses into the heart of the celebration. It was first released in 1993 under the name Le Carnaval de Venise, but in 1999 Hermès changed the title to Fêtes Vénitiennes following legal pressure from the city of Venice. No matter the name, it remains a tribute to one of the most iconic festivals in the world.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
