From The Hermès Fall-Winter 2010/11 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: He guides his horse with gentleness and firmness, the light pressure on the stirrups transmitting to the animal those orders so often repeated. His hands must be free so the drums can resound. It's a holiday, a procession. Squarely lined up beside his companion, the timpanist plays and his soul takes flight. Hasn't his fiancée come to admire him, isn't she somewhere in the crowd? This highly worked carré reproduces epaulettes, pompoms and brocade, using the loveliest colours of the range. All sorts of needlework, flecks, stocking stitches or knitting stitches delineate the horse, the rider and the ornamented tympanum.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
