From The Hermès Fall-Winter 2016/17 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Separated by a thin stream, two triangles structure this scarf. In one, a forest made up of apple and pear trees, oaks alders, lindens, sycamores, bamboo and the traveller's tree emerges. Their branches intermingle in a colourful proliferation while their trunks take root in the opposing triangle, where a more symbolic interpretation of nature reigns. The Donar's oak, also called Thor's oak, venerated by the ancient Germans; the cypress, associated with Pluto, whose sombre underworld is evoked by its dark foliage; and the Bodhi tree, under which Buddha achieved enlightenment, are all featured in this second triangle Designed by Annie Faivre in 1998, Les Légendes de l'arbre now reappears as a coloriage scarf, in line and in colour.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
