From The Hermès Spring-Summer 2020 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Akira Yamaguchi is an artist from Tokyo who is inspired by traditional pictorial forms, which he interorets in a personal and innovative way. Invited to France by Pierre-Alexis Dumas, he discovered the different facets of Hermes. This composition is a meeting of Japanese culture and Lyon silk know-how, and pays tribute to the artisans. At the centre of the design are two samurai: a woman riding a horse-motorcycle and a man holding its reins. This modern chimera is surrounded by scenes depicting the Faubourg Saint-Honore store in Paris and the silk, leather and saddlery workshops.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
