From The Hermès Fall-Winter 1994/95 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Here is an homage to the timeless, princely art of hunting with falcons, inspired by a treatise on falconry that was published in the 19th century in Leyde and Düsseldorf, and by figures painted "from life" by the animal painter Wolf for King William IlI of Holland. This hunt-loving king brought about a revival of hunting with falcons in his country between 1850 and 1890. Around the stand for the cage, we see different falcons, some hooded, all with their feet in fetters.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
