From The Hermes Fall-Winter 2015/16 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: A forest of top hats, a few capelines, silk caps... This tableau is so vivid that the hum of conversation can almost be heard. The style of lean-Louis Clerc. a Swiss artist born at the start of the 20th century, is imminently recognisable; the lightness of his stroke and his way of distributing colour has earned him prestigious partnerships. His |950 meeting with Robert Dumas, who then directed Hermes, resulted in close to a dozen scarves. Amongst these was Paddock, a lively evocation of the place where horses and their owners, jockeys, chic racegoers and gamblers mingle before each race.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
