From The Hermès Fall-Winter 2010/11 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: A prince once wanted to marry a young girl, as free as the wind and as beautiful as the birds. So the Old Hermit of the Chestnut Trees offered him a magic parasol, decorated with a porcelain bird-woman, which took him to the four quarters of the world, from East to West and from North to South. When at last he planted a kiss on its lips, a young girl appeared, freed from her fate. A cane parasol from the Émile Hermès Collection is the heroine of this story. Sewn with pheasant feathers, it is topped by a figurine in porcelain, whose body is decorated with flowers. The poetry of this statuette, created at the start of the nineteenth century by the German factory of Meissen, inspired the designer.

- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
