From The Hermès Fall-Winter 2019/20 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: The Cape mountain zebra is a rare protected species found in the south-eastern provinces of South Africa. Alice Shirley's design is modeled on a foal that has wandered off to explore the fynbos, the unique vegetation of the southernmost region of the country. It grows in poor soil, and is regenerated by the bush fires sparked by lightning in the dry season. In spring, the fynbos transforms into a fragrant, multi-colored carpet of flowers, a dreamlike vista. The artist has reproduced almost forty different plants to create a sumptuous setting for the little zebra.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
