Why I Love This Pattern: The name Omnibus is one of the two rival horse-drawn transportation systems in Paris in the 1820s. The “Omnibus” was one of the first public coaches to run on fixed routes through the city, while the “Dames Blanches,” or “White Ladies,” was a competing company running a similar service. At the time, these new carriage lines were a modern novelty and completely changed how Parisians moved around the city. Their competition even inspired a board game that showed the routes and carriages of both companies, and it was this very game that Hermès reinterpreted in 1937 for their first silk scarf.
Why I Love This Size
The 90cm silk scarf is the classic size. It’s technically the most versatile in terms of tying many different knots, styling it as a top, a bag, a headscarf and the list goes on.
