Why I Love This Pattern: This scarf tells the story of the silk process, similar to "L'Arbre de Soie" which I’ve had here before. I’ve always loved the history behind the paisley motif. It originated in Persia as a symbol of an imaginary flower representing love and eventually spread to India, China, and the Middle East. Over time, its design became more simplified and stylized. The name itself comes from Paisley, a Scottish town near Glasgow that became a major textile hub in the late 17th century. It’s amazing to think how this timeless pattern has evolved and traveled across the world! In 2016, Hermes partnered with the Paisley Museum, selecting this design from the many books of samples held in the collections.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
