From The Hermès Website: In the center of the design, framed by antique bridle bits, two intertwined "H" letters symbolize the marriage of Emile Hermès and Julie Hollande in 1900. This monogram was displayed on the doors of the 24 Faubourg store during its major renovation in 1924 and still adorns the elevator that was inaugurated at the time. A few decades later, Richard Nixon, then President of the United States, found himself trapped there in front of the staff and his stunned bodyguards. In memory of this adventure, the elevator was renamed after its famous captive. At Hermès, sometimes a small story becomes part of a larger one.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
