Why I Love This Pattern: Octave Marsal and Théo de Gueltzl's design captures the unstoppable force of nature, reclaiming its space even in the midst of a sprawling city. The cityscape, stretching far into the distance, could be Los Angeles, Hong Kong, or even a dreamlike metropolis of the future. With their meticulous linework, the artists create a stunning trompe-l'œil effect, where the boundaries between architecture and nature blur. Hidden within the overgrown vegetation and winding streets, a variety of wildlife quietly watches, a subtle reminder that nature always has the final say. I also think this design seem to be inspired by a painting called "The Flood" by Ludovic Napoleon Lepic from 1874, which depicts the flood from the book of Genesis. Noah sent a raven and a dove to fly over the area and search for signs that the flood was over. Coincidentally we see a similar depiction in Retour a la Nature.
Why I Love This Size
