From The Hermès Fall-Winter 2002/03 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Everyone knows Sanskrit, the ancient language of India which was spoken until our Christian era, and which remains today as the literary and brahminical medium. Everyone therefore knows that maha means "great" and raja "king". The Maharaja is the high prince of Hindustan, to whom his spouse, the Maharani, offers many a reason to love her with all her conjugal charms. Why go off hunting tigers when such feline grace awaits you?

Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
