From The Fall-Winter 2002/03 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: This is the famous Persian legend from the 12th century. The Princess is very demanding. She desires a husband who will be at the same time handsome, brave and spirited. The winner of the ensuing contest then takes his place by her in the centre of the scarf, from where he reigns over China, helped by the Dragon, that imperial beast; the Phoenix, the Empress's mascot; the Lion, guarantor of success; and the Tortoise, champion of what lasts.

Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
