From the Hermès Fall-Winter 1997/98 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Africa: the cradle of mankind. Sometimes we find ourselves regretting that the child has shed his swaddling clothes too early, or sown his wild oats too wildly. But untamed nature still bestows nobility upon this limitless continent, emblazoned by the golden sun. Flora and fauna combine in a vibrantly multi-colour-ed atmosphere, which sets, as it were, a mirage of an untouched paradise, there on the flaming savannah and the dreaming faces of the great lakes.

Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
