From The Hermès Spring-Summer 1995 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: In the 16* century, the cavalier's Lhelmet was all a part of the glamour of the tournament. The burgonet (which leaves the face uncovered), the armet (which features a raisable ventail, and could be worn with a gorgerin, or throat-piece), the morion (which only protects the skull), were all invariably adorned with a shock of flowing plumes, which added a touch of grace and insolence to the otherwise ponderous show of warlike gallantry.

Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
