From The Hermès Fall-Winter 2012/13 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Inspired by an astrological table dating from the Renaissance, the scarf Astrologie, by Françoise Faconnet, shows the ingenious system indicating the passages of the moon and sun. It is, in a way, an image of time passing. Yet the world and our time changes; rhythms are accelerating and time becomes a tempo. Reinterpreted by Cyrille Diatkine, the design, transfigured, finds modernity and vigour. The alternating patterns reinvent history, upset the rhythm, syncopate the story, leaving to each the choice to read it in a "disordered order"-free and random. Play with time. Change, dream, move-this could be the message.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
