From The Hermès Fall-Winter 1990/91 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: We are told that there is a global warming effect and that this is why the winds are growing stronger. As the gales hit us yet again, what could be more charming than to recall more leisurely times when ladies would feel the need to deploy their fans to create a gentle draught? Here, in a range of five colour combinations, is a selection of fans drawn from the Duvelleroy, Carnavalet Museum and other collections.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
