From The Hermès Fall-Winter 2016/17 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Thinking back to her childhood in Africa took Annie Faivre on a journey of memories that resulted in the creation of Chemins de corail (coral paths). The names given to the colours of this fragile marine organism - angel skin, blood flower, blood foam - symbolise its enigmatic nature. First thought to be a mineral, then a plant, coral was definitively classified as part of the animal kingdom in the 18th century. Corals were among the first inhabitants of the sea world and generally live in colonies forming magnificent reefs. The largest in the world is the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Australia, a natural marvel which is increasingly threatened by pollution and global warming.

Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
