From The Hermès Spring-Summer 2012 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: At 23 years of ase, Robert Delpire founded Neuf magazine, bringing together Sartre, Michaux, Miller and Picasso. Then at the beginning of the 1950s, he published the photographers Cartier-Bresson, Brassaï and Robert Frank. In 1963, Graphis magazine paid homage to his work by inviting him to design its cover. Entranced by its alignment of subtly varying shells, Robert Dumas suggested that he create a scarf. The same year, Delpire inaugurated his Parisian gallery, which would show a number of photographers and illustrators, including Koudelka, Bourdin, Savignac and Glaser. This tireless "presenter of images" practiced the art of sharing his passions intensely, just as the Hermès scarf shares the passion of telling stories that endure through time.
