From The Hermès Fall-Winter 1991/92 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: The daimyo were powerful barons of feudal Japan, whose coats of arms (contained within a circle - the symbol of perfection) often depicted plants and animals. The crane was believed to bring good luck and long life. Here, we find it encircled by ginkgo leaves, and framed in a pattern of crossed Samurai swords. These instruments of combat and hara-kiri here symbolize the legacy of courage and honour left by these princes of the Rising Sun.

- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
