From The Hermes Spring-Summer 1990 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Here, the gala trappings of the celebrated French Cadre Noir riding school. Snaffle reins and bridles, saddlecloths (deep red for the Master of the Horse; bright red for the equerry and horsemen). The stirrups are gilded, like the buttons on the riders' jackets and spurs. These adornments glorify the art of fine riding. We salute the horse and those expert equestrians who ride with grace.

- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
