From The Hermès Spring-Summer 2011 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: In 2015, Wlodek Kaminski drew inspiration from the lines of a vintage carriage to design a scarf, revisited here in bayadere stripes. The graphic effect of alternating bands creates a delicate combination of tradition and modernity. King Ferdinand VII of Spain travelled to France in this Berline carriage in 1808. The gigantic rear wheel, far removed from the fashion of the time, is what makes it highly original today. Conserved at the Musée national de la voiture at the Château de Compiègne, this carriage is one of the car museum's gems.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
