From The Hermès Fall-Winter 2019/20 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: This naturalistic scarf by Katie Scott was inspired by the pages of the Historia Naturalis Palmarum, a 19th-century treatise on palms by the German botanist, ethnographer and explorer Carl Friedrich Philipp von Martius. The astonishingly diverse forms and colours of this plant species, one of the oldest on earth, fire the imagination: is anything more creative than Mother Nature herself? Exploring the palm family in the tradition of botanical plates, the designer presents just a few specimens of the plant she describes as "the embodiment of exoticism"
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
