From The Hermès Spring-Summer 1988 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: The ancestor of the fastidious automobile owner who keeps his vehicle polished to a high gloss, the equestrian of yesteryear lavished elaborate decorations on his finest steeds. The more aristocratic the horse, elegant the rider or skillful the coachman, the more luxurious was the ornamentation of harness and mount. Here, an assemblage of particularly beautiful equestrian regalia for ceremonial occasions.

- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
