Why I Love This Pattern: This motif by Françoise de la Perrière takes its cue from a richly illustrated 19th-century catalog in the Émile Hermès collection, showcasing elegant, convertible carriages and saddlery. At the time, design was all about innovation and beauty. Paris workshops even debuted carriages with retractable hoods at the 1851 London World’s Fair. The central motif here nods to the cane paneling often used on carriage bodies, surrounded by a parade of refined, soft-top designs that feel like the ancestors of modern convertibles.
Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
