From The Hermès Fall-Winter 2014/15 Seasonal Scarf Booklet: Metal in fusion. Mercury, perhaps? The substance is sleek, glossy, somehow alive… and supremely seductive. Impossible not to think of another carré – Vif argent, created a few seasons ago by the same designer, Dimitri Rybaltchenko – at the sight of this design. Mercury is unique: a metal in a naturally liquid state, sensitive to the slightest pressure, so that it scatters in a multitude of fluid, free-flowing baubles. Cheval fusion: the protean liquid suggests an array of potential forms. Bits, buckles and stirrups coalesce, and a proud steed is born. The magic of metamorphosis! Could this be the lair of Hephaestus, the Greek god of the forge and volcanoes, inventor of magical objects? Could this outburst of metal hold a clue to the secret art of alchemy? Remember – Mercury is also a planet, named for a Roman god, whose Greek ancestor bore the name… Hermes.

Size Guide
- Twilly: small but mighty, use it like a typical scarf, as a bag handle, as a belt, and more.
- 45cm: this is the typical pocket square size, will fit around the neck like a bandana.
- 55cm: this is the bandana size typically printed in 3 colors to look like a traditional bandana.
- 70cm: this is a great option for petites and they are typically made out of a lighter weight silk than any of the other formats.
- 90cm: this is the classic Hermès scarf size. It's very versatile and if you're looking at any vintage photos, this is the scarf size that's worn.
- 140cm: the largest size of the bunch, almost reaching 5 ft. It's hard to capture the scale in photos but these are incredible as a lightweight shawl in the summer, or folded for a warmer feel in the winter.
- Shawls & Other Sizes: there are a few styles that Hermès does not make every season which are just as lovely and fit into this category.
